A 37-year-old welder in Ho, Justice Kwami Senyo Zokli, who allegedly dug a grave at the family house and stabbed his elder brother 17 times in an attempt to kill him and subsequently bury him, is set to stand trial at the Ho High Court for attempted murder.
The incident occurred shortly after the accused had been granted bail, having spent eight months in prison custody for allegedly digging a grave and threatening to kill his elder brother and subsequently bury him in it.
The accused was committed to stand trial at the High Court after an earlier appearance before the Ho District Court One.
A State Attorney, Este Senyo Axame, told The Mirror in Ho last Monday that the incident occurred on September 9, 2025, at about 1:30 p.m.
He said the two brothers lived in the same family house at Mawuli Gate in Ho.
Mr Axame, who is the prosecuting attorney, said that on the day of the incident, the victim, Bright Kofi Zokli, 59, an auto mechanic, was on his way to his workshop near the house when the accused signalled him to stop.
When the victim stopped, the accused allegedly approached him, pulled out a knife from his pocket and stabbed him repeatedly in the abdomen, armpit and other parts of his body.
A policeman and other members of the public subsequently intervened and rescued the victim. He was rushed to the Ho Teaching Hospital, where he was treated and discharged after spending three weeks on admission, the State Attorney said.
Mr Axame said the accused admitted the offence in his investigation caution statement.
The accused is currently in police custody, and trial is to begin in October this year.
