Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, MP Krowor Constituency

Agnes Naa Momo Lartey born on April 16, 1976 is a Ghanaian politician. She is a Member of Parliament for Krowor Constituency in the Greater Accra Region. She is the first female to be elected as Member of Parliament for Krowor Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

She was the ECOWAS In-Country Expert on the Children on the Street Project in 2017.

She completed her Ordinary and Advanced Level Certificates at Nungua Secondary School and West Africa Secondary School respectively. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management at Central University. 

Agnes  Lartey obtained her Masters in Human Resource Development at the University of Cape Coast. She enrolled into the University of Professional Studies, Accra, where she completed a second Master’s Degree Programme (MPhil) in Leadership.

In 2011, Agnes  Lartey became the first female Presiding Member of the then Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA), a position she held till 2013. She was also elected in 2011 as the 2nd Vice President of the “National Association of Local Authority (NALAG), which is the mouthpiece of all Local Authorities in Ghana. 

In the latter period of 2013, she was employed as the General Secretary of National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG). Again, the first female to have been employed into that high office.

Politics

Naa Momo began her political career in 2000. In December 2016, she contested in the 2016 Ghanaian General Election under the ticket of the National Democratic Congress and lost to Elizabeth Afoley Quaye of the New Patriotic Party.

She contested again in the 2020 Ghanaian General Election under the ticket of the National Democratic Congress and won. She polled 41,850 votes which represents 55.80% of the total votes cast. She was elected over incumbent, Elizabeth Afoley Quaye of the New Patriotic Party and Hannah Bortey of the Ghana Union Movement. These two parties obtained 32,604 and 545 votes respectively out of the total valid votes cast. Representing 43.47% and 0.73% respectively of total valid votes cast.
