66 women graduate from Pentecost Resource Centre

Sixty-six women have graduated from the Teshie Nungua Area Women’s Ministry Resource Centre of the Church of Pentecost with employable skills in dressmaking, cosmetology, catering and hairdressing.

The resource centre was established a year ago to provide employable skills to the young women in the area who lacked skills for employment and those who had no form of employment. The establishment of the centre was the brain child of the Area Head, Prophet James Osei Amaniampong, together with the now new area women leadership.

Congratulating the graduates, Prophet Amaniampong said: “You have made us proud and we give all the praise to God.”

In his capacity as the Area Head, together with his area executives, he donated GH¢50,000 to the school and challenged other members of the public to also donate to the school to ensure its smooth running.

 He commended the Area Women’s Ministry executives and the leaders of the Women’s Ministry in the various districts for their hard work, dedication and commitment in making a dream come true.

The ceremony, which took place at the Emmanuel Kwadwo Kyei Memorial Temple, Baatsona District, was attended by dignitaries including  queenmothers from the Nungua Traditional Area, government representatives, the church’s women ministry representatives from the Greater Accra Area, the pastorate in the area and members of the church. 

Fulfilled vision

The National Women’s Director of the Church of Pentecost, Deaconess Mrs Grace Lucy Asuamah, stated that her vision for the Women’s Ministry had been fulfilled.

“In 2012, when I became the Women’s Ministry director, I prayed to God and he laid on my heart a vision of raising women who will be spiritually effective, women who are self-reliant and women of character who will impact on their society and community,” she said.

Addressing the graduates, the Area Women’s Leader, Mrs Cynthia Adelaide Araba  Agyepong, entreated them to adhere to Proverbs 22: 29, which states: “Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men.”

 She also encouraged the graduates to be ambassadors of the school and wished them luck in the new chapter of their lives.

New departments

Mrs Agyepong announced that the school was planning to open two new departments; a soap making and an ICT department solely for the male members of the church.

She also said, in consonance with the great commission of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Area Women’s Ministry would embark on an outreach programme for, “Kayayei” head porters.

She hinted that the school was working towards gaining accreditation from the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) and thanked all  who helped the school for their support.
