Alpha Beta Education Centre holds Founders Day

The Alpha Beta Education Centre at Dansoman in Accra has held its Founders Day celebration with the unveiling of the 30th anniversary logo, new uniforms and calendar.

The celebration was held to honour the Founders of the school, Rev. Samuel Adjepong and Mrs Florence Adjepong, for their devotion to the educational development of children in the country.

It was also to recognise their contributions to the development of education, particularly in the Dansoman community with the setting up of a library for students in the neighbourhood.

As part of the celebrations, the school also launched a new programme dubbed: “Skill Up Africa”, which is aimed at providing a variety of certificate courses in different subject areas for adults and young people to improve on themselves both personally and professionally.

Courses for the programme include entrepreneurship, proposal writing, youth employability writing, public speaking, chartered accounting and IT courses.

The Proprietress of the school, Mrs Florence Adjepong, said the school started in 1988 in her house at Dansoman with only six children at the pre-school level.

Later, she said the kindergarten department was established in 1991 followed by the primary and junior high school in 1992.

Mrs Adjepong was grateful to God for the successes chalked up by the school over the years.

The theme for the anniversary was: “Leaving a Lasting Legacy: Impacting Families and the community’’.

She also commended the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school for their contributions towards the development of the school.

She encouraged the youth who wanted to become entrepreneurs not to despair but to make use of the resources available for their benefit.
