130 Graduate from BlueCrest College
Some 79 students have graduated from the BlueCrest College in Accra with first degrees.
The graduating class comprised 59 from Information Technology, 16 from Business Administration, and four from Mass Communication departments.
Some 51 other students graduated with professional diploma certificates from the Fashion and Design School of the College.
At the school’s 14th graduation ceremony in Accra, a former Vice Chancellor of the Catholic University College, Prof. James Ephraim, asked young graduates to be diligent and strive to excel in their chosen careers.
He said it was when they worked hard and moved out of their comfort zones that they would be successful and be able to contribute meaningfully to national development.
“Be passionate to succeed in your endeavours without being too much in a hurry to get to the top. Rather, be determined and work hard towards your future goals,” he said.
The school’s 14th graduation ceremony was dubbed “Nurturing self-sustainable Africa through education”.
Maintain focus
Prof. Ephraim said the future belonged to the youth for which reason it was important for them to remain focused on their goals.
He urged the graduates to upgrade their knowledge to meet the dynamics of the world in order to be competitive on the job market.
He also encouraged them to be ambassadors of change in their fields of work by developing creative ideas of solving problems.
The Chairman of the school, Dr Dev Varyani, advised the youth to dream big and work hard to accomplish their life goals rather than throwing their hands in despair.
“People will criticise you but you need to be steadfast and never give up in pursuing goals,” he said.
In a speech delivered on his behalf, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Rev. Father Professor Anthony Afful-Broni, urged the young people to think “outside the box” to solve challenges facing society.
He encouraged the youth to take advantage of the government’s social policies and develop an entrepreneurial spirit to be self-employed and create job opportunities for others.
