The Adonai University College of Research and Entrepreneurship (AUCRE) has held its first graduation ceremony in Ho in the Volta Region.
Out of the first batch of 45 graduates, 24 were awarded a Diploma in Journalism and Media Studies, Computer Science and Cyber Security, Advertising, Public Relations and Marketing, and Human Resource Development.
The rest were awarded certificates in Business Management, Pastoral Ministry and Graphic Design.
The ceremony was on the theme: “The power of innovation – Shaping the next generation of entrepreneurs.”
The Director, Office of Doctoral Programmes, at the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), Professor Raymond K. Dziwornu, who was the special guest at the occasion, said AUCRE, which started on a humble note, had very bright prospects as it ran programmes relevant to the contemporary development needs of the country.
He said the nation required graduates with innovations and the appropriate skills to change the status quo for rapid development.
“This is because consumer tastes are changing and technology is advancing, and that requires innovations to ensure we are not left behind,” Professor Dziwornu explained.
He urged the graduates to be bold and build partnerships with their newly acquired skills to engender transformations and depart from the old order in their communities and the nation at large.
The acting Rector and Founder of AUCRE, Rev. Dr Bright Adonai, said the university college’s focus was on developing world-class human resources and capabilities to address national development needs and global challenges through quality teaching, learning, research and entrepreneurial knowledge dissemination.
“Adonai University College of Research and Entrepreneurship is fuelled by the zeal to achieve greater results and keep up with the global pace of technical, vocational and entrepreneurial development through creativity,” he added.
The acting rector said rapidly advancing technology had compelled the institution to embrace thoughtful approaches and tactics to train and transform students to become university college products with enviable abilities.
In that regard, he said, AUCRE was committed to equipping the students with the appropriate skills to swiftly address the problem of unemployment and other economic challenges.
“We are committed to knowledge generation that absolutely influences the lives of people in and outside our university college community,” Dr Adonai said.
