Philanthropist donates vehicle to Catholic University of Ghana
A Resident of Fiapre, Abdul Samad Nurudeen, has donated an Opel saloon car to the campus radio station of the Catholic University of Ghana (CUG) to facilitate the operation of the facility.
The National Communications Authority (NCA) granted the university authorisation to operate the newly established Wisdom FM 101.1 as a campus radio station this year, after the institution had completed the establishment of its studios, equipped with both audio and video editing equipment.

The establishment of the campus radio station and the presentation will help the university's Department of Journalism train and produce professional journalists.
The university said the donation would enhance the station's capacity to serve the university and its surrounding communities.
The newly established facility had already completed its 3-month test run, which started in August 2024.
Eliminate challenges
Mr Nurudeen, who is a businessman, told the Daily Graphic that he had planned to donate an additional bus to the university.
He said he was supporting the CUG to eliminate challenges that were likely to hinder students from attaining the full benefit of establishing the university.
"Looking at the huge burden on the university, l think that it is proper to donate the car to ease its transportation challenge," he said.

Expectations
He appealed to the University not to compromise established systems such as grading of its students and other academic activities, urging it to involve its host communities in its development issues.
"I urge authorities of the CUG to do things that will make the University one of the best in the country. We will try to help and guide the University to attain that height," he said.
He said the establishment of the CUG at Fiapre by the Catholic Church was an honour, and must therefore be commended and supported to grow.
Appreciation
The Vice-Chancellor of the CUG, Professor Daniels Obeng-Ofori, who received the vehicle thanked Mr Nurudeen for the gesture.

"We are truly impressed and grateful," he said, explaining that the vehicle would be instrumental in advancing operations of the campus radio station, ultimately benefiting the Journalism
Department as a whole," he said.
At the 23rd graduation and 34th matriculation ceremony of CUG held last month, Prof. Obeng-Ofori said the idea to establish a campus radio station was conceived during the inception of the university.
