Republic Bank donates smart board to UEW

Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC has once again demonstrated its commitment to quality education by donating a smart board to the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).

The donation of the smart board follows a call from the university seeking assistance with its digital laboratory.

Some of the exciting and advanced features of the 75-inch smart board include multi-touch functionality, wireless connectivity and digital tools that allow for better engagements and simulations by lecturers and students.

During the presentation ceremony at the University of Education, Winneba, the General Manager for Commercial and Retail Banking, Joseph L. Ashong, said, “As part of its corporate social responsibility, Republic Bank has adopted four of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), including SDG4, which is Quality Education.

“We believe this smart board is an educational tool to enhance the university's teaching and learning experience and also, providing students and faculty with modern, interactive technology to facilitate their academic activities,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor of UEW, Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, thanked the board, management and staff of Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC for the kind gesture.

“The smart board will transform the teaching and learning in our institution by providing students and lecturers with a cutting–edge tool to navigate the complexities of technology,” he stated.

Some members of the UEW community, including the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Victor Antwi; the Ag. Registrar, Wilhemina Tete-Mensah; the Director, ICT Services Dr Augustine Monney, and the Secretary, Amos Amamoo, attended the ceremony.

The bank was represented by the General Manager, Commercial and Retail Banking, Joseph L. Ashong; the Southern Sector Manager, Pious Twum Barima; the Manager, Communications, Leila Pentsil; the Branch Manager, Winneba, Sussie Afriyie, Kwaku Acquaah and Irene Enyonam Quaye.
