The University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) has honoured the outgoing Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, Maher Kheir, with a farewell ceremony, celebrating his seven years of dedicated service, educational support and cultural diplomacy.
This is to acknowledge the Ambassador’s role in strengthening academic cooperation between Ghana and Lebanon through scholarships, lectures and cultural exchanges.
The ceremony highlighted the close partnership between UniMAC and the Lebanese Embassy and provided an opportunity for the university community to express appreciation for the Ambassador’s contributions to Ghanaian education.
During the event, gifts were presented to Ambassador Kheir in recognition of his service and his Personal Assistant, Emmanuel Agorsor, for his pivotal role in maintaining effective communication and facilitating collaboration between the embassy and the university.
Partnership
Speaking at the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of UniMAC, Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah, commended Ambassador Kheir for his unwavering commitment to empowering Ghanaian youth.
He said more than 300 students had benefited from the Lebanese Scholarship programme over the years, with 59 currently enrolled at UniMAC across various academic disciplines.
Prof. Mensah described the partnership as transformative and impactful, saying that it had expanded opportunities for students in fields such as public relations, languages, performing arts, film and television, and translation.
Ambassador Kheir described his time in the country as memorable and fulfilling.
He said the scholarship partnership with UniMAC had been one of the most meaningful aspects of his diplomatic mission.
“Education is the strongest bridge between nations, and the greatest investment we can make for the future,” he said.
As a gesture of goodwill, Ambassador Kheir presented a gift to the Vice-Chancellor.
