Prof Ebenezer Adaku is new GIMPA Deputy Rector

The Governing Council of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has appointed Professor. Ebenezer Adaku, an Associate Professor of Operations and Project Management, as the new Deputy Rector of the institute with effect from October 25, 2024.

Professor Adaku attended St. Peter’s Senior High School, Nkwatia-Kwahu and proceeded to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) where he earned a BSc (Hons) degree in Building Technology.

He then advanced his studies at the University of Stuttgart in Germany, obtaining both an MSc in Infrastructure Planning and a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering as a DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) scholar.

Additionally, he has pursued further training in Teaching Methodologies in Management Education, Research, and Curricula Development at IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain.

Prior to his appointment, Prof. Adaku served as the Head, Department of Management Science; and as Acting Dean of the GIMPA Business School, where he provided visionary leadership and mentorship to a dynamic team of academics.

His governance contributions to the Institute include active participation in various sub-committees (standing and ad hoc) of the Academic Board and Council.

He has over 19 years of experience in the built-environment and project management sector.

Before joining GIMPA, he worked on several large infrastructure projects in Ghana as a Quantity Surveyor.

Prof. Adaku has consulted for Public Procurement Authority (PPA) on Sustainable Public Procurement and rolled out workshops for public procurement entities across Ghana.

He has facilitated training programmes/workshops, in operations, procurement and project management, for institutions such as ECOWAS; Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre; Tema Oil Refinery; Absa Bank Ghana; Ministry of Gender and Social Protection, among others.

From 2019 to 2021, Prof. Adaku was appointed by the European Union as a Marie Sklodowska Curie Research Fellow at the University of Wolverhampton in the UK, where he worked on Occupational Health and Safety Risk Management on construction projects.

He is a member of the Governing Council of the Ghana Institute of Procurement and Supply (GIPS).

He also serves as a reviewer for the prestigious Marie Sklodowska Curie Post-doctoral Fellowship applications, and is an Editorial Review Board Member of the Africa Journal of Management.

His research focuses on:
•    causes and effects of construction projects cost and time overruns;
•    social capital and its effects on project performance in developing economy environments; 
•    occupational safety and health (OSH) management on construction projects; and
•    supplier relationship and firm performance in developing economy environments;

Prof. Adaku’s research and consultancy projects have benefited funding from notable organizations, including the World Bank; the European Union; the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation; the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) in Switzerland; and German Development Cooperation (GIZ).

His works have been published in several reputable international peer-reviewed journals and presented at global conferences. He is a member of the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) in the USA and a fellow of the Ghana Institute of Procurement and Supply (GIPS).

With his extensive expertise and dedication to excellence, Prof. Adaku is poised to make significant contributions to GIMPA as a Deputy Rector.
