WAEC releases 2025 Private Candidates’ results, warns against fraudulent result upgrades

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of provisional results for 12,452 private candidates who sat for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) – First Series.

According to a statement issued on Thursday, March 28, 2025, the entry figure comprised 5,269 males and 7,998 females, while 738 registered candidates were absent from the exams. Candidates can now access their results via the WAEC online portal using their examination details.

Cases of examination malpractice

WAEC also disclosed that some malpractices were detected during the conduct of the exams and the marking process. As a result, the subject results of 34 candidates and the entire results of 43 candidates have been withheld pending investigations.

Public cautioned against fake result upgrades

The examining body further cautioned candidates and the general public to be wary of fraudsters who claim to upgrade results for a fee, often requesting payment via mobile money. WAEC assured that its results database is well secured, and all results can be verified.

“The Council wishes to caution members of the public to be wary of scammers who contact candidates and promise to upgrade their results for a fee payable through mobile money transfers,” WAEC stated.

The Council advised institutions and employers to authenticate results directly from WAEC through its verification services available at www.waecgh.org.
