2 Final-year students of Juaben SHS arrested for gang-rape

Two final-year students of Juaben Senior High School in the Ashanti Region have been remanded in police custody for allegedly gang-raping a form one student of the school.

The  suspects were reported to have taken undue advantage of a recent power outage on the school compound to rape the 15-year-old girl. 

They were arrested after the victim had reported her ordeal to the school’s senior housemistress.  The names of the suspects are being witheld.

According to the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent of Police, Mr Stephen Kwasi Kwakye, the victim fell into the  trap of the two suspects who were in the dormitory after they had absented themselves from the school’s entertainment programme on March 15, 2014.

He said the victim’s slippers got torn when she was rushing to remove her clothes from the drying line since it was raining. She consequently went to the nearby boys’ dormitory for slippers from one of the suspects, who was her friend.  

The two suspects, he said, under the cover of darkness, dragged the victim into the room, covered her mouth tightly to prevent her from shouting and raped her in turns.
