2013 Journalist of the Year receives award from GJA
The 2013 Journalist of the Year, Ms Mabel Aku Baneseh of the Daily Graphic, was Friday presented with her prize money of GHȻ5,000 almost a year after the awards ceremony was held in August 2014.
Ms Baneseh, a staff of the Graphic Communications Group Limited, won the coveted PAV Ansah Journalist of the Year Award for 2013.

Her story on the landmark Election petition at the Supreme Court in 2013 was adjudged by the awards committee as one that united the country.
However, due to a decision by the headline sponsor, Unilever, to pull out of the awards a few days to the ceremony, the presentation of her prize money delayed.
Presenting the cheque for GHȻ5,000 as a token from the GJA on Friday, the President of GJA, Mr Affail Monney, apologised for the delay. Ms Baneseh thanked the GJA for the gesture.

This year's awards ceremony would be held on Saturday August 15, 2015. 26 award nominees including eight journalists from Graphic Communications Group are to be presented with honours.
The nominees are Doreen Hammond, Mabel Aku Baneseh, Moses Dotse Aklobortu, Nana Konadu Agyeman, Seth J. Bokpe, Gabriel Ahiabor, Della Russel Ocloo and Zadok K. Gyesi.
Other award nominees are Rebecca Awuah, Felix Klutse, Elvis Darko, Kwetey Nartey, Seth K. Boateng, Wendy Laryea and Alberto Mario Noretti.

The others are Samuel Adadi Akapule, David Andoh, Benedict Owusu, Abdul Moomen Hayi, Joseph Opoku Gakpo and Nii Adjei Klu.
The applicants were assessed on their ability to demonstrate high levels of accuracy, originality, balance, relevance, compliance with ethical standards in their writings and those whose stories made social impacts.
