According to the committee, all was set for a successful celebration which would attract thousands of people both far and near to Winneba to catch a glimpse of the internationally recognised festival.

Speaking at a press conference at Winneba to officially announce the week-long programme of activities for the festival, the Chairman of the committee, Neenyi Kojo Beedu, called on indigenes of the area to come in their numbers to grace the occasion and showcase their rich cultural heritage to the world.

The event was organised by Nyce Media, the official publicity agency for the festival.

The festival is slated for May 2 to 8, 2016. Activities lined up are clean-up exercises, Tuafo and Dentsefo youth outdoor, parading of deities, Tuafo and Dentsefo grand procession, deer hunting and grand durbar, float as well as Aboakyer football cup final match.

Neenyi Beedu appealed to corporate bodies to contribute financially to make this year’s edition peaceful and memorable.

“Security will be beefed up in the town particularly at all entertainment centres for a violence-free festival,’’ he stressed.

The Chief Executive Officer of Nyce Media, Mr James Kofi Annan, said the festival had been rebranded and packaged to attract more people and visitors to the town.

He called for effective participation from the public, since it was an occasion for them to portray their culture to the rest of the world.

He assured the Aboakyer board of an effective collaboration between them throughout the period to ensure a peaceful celebration this year.
