Accident on the Kwahu scarp

A near fatal accident occurred on the bridge to the Obomeng town on Saturday at about 7 p.m. on a rainy night, causing a hold up in traffic. According to eyewitness accounts, the accident occurred when the driver of the blue Nissan March taxi, who was new to the route, tried to prevent the car from entering the ditch before the bridge.

This attempt by the driver rather resulted in the right side of the car ramming heavily into the concrete wall at the side of the bridge, thereby trapping the occupant of the front seat.

All the four occupants of the vehicle were injured, with the face of one of the two lady passengers oozing with blood.

The Daily Graphic team which arrived on the scene, alerted the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent James Sarfo Peprah, of the accident, and he subsequently dispatched some policemen to the scene.

There was no ambulance on hand to take the injured to the hospital, so a taxi driver volunteered to take them to the Nkawkaw Holy family hospital for treatment.
