Africa Youth Awards announces 2017 Most Influential Young Africans

The initiative aims at recognising and celebrating young achievers across the African continent and is reckoned to be one of the most recognized across the continent with over 140 participating countries.

Prince Akpah, President of Africa Youth Awards noted that this year’s list has an unprecedented gender representation of 45 women and 55 men.

This, he noted, is a great move to inspire more young women in Africa and across the world to reach out for their dreams.

Nominations were restricted to people aged between 15 and 36, with a coverage of 28 countries on the continent with Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana and Kenya leading with 19, 18, 10, 7 representatives respectively.

Ten notable Ghanaians, who made it to the 100 most influential young Africans list, were Mr Ekow Mensah, the Founder & currently the CEO of The African Network Of Entrepreneurs (TANOE); Mr Albert Prempeh Kusi, an Entrepreneur par excellence, Business Development Strategist and a celebrated Conference host and speaker; Mr Ameyaw Kissi Debrah, an award winning blogger, and Mr Alloysius Attah, the CEO and Co-founder of Farmerline.

The rest are Mr Asamoah Gyan, the Captain of the national football team, the Black Stars; Berla Mundi, an award winning Broadcast Journalist; Mr Elijah Amoo Addo, a young Ghanaian social entrepreneur; Mr Randy Osae Bediako, CEO of Kharis Group and founder of the Spirit Preneurship Summit; Shatta Wale, award-winning Ghanaian-born producer and reggae-dancehall musician; and Sarkodie, a successful and popular hiplife/hip-pop Ghanaian artiste.
