Airtel Ghana excels at Institute of Public Relations Excellence Awards

The Managing Director of Airtel Ghana, Ms Lucy Quist  (2nd right), with other staff members of Airtel displaying awards the company won at the recently held Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Excellence Awards which took place at the Banquet hall in Accra.

Airtel Ghana, which is also the winner of CIMG Marketing Oriented Company of the Year, won four other awards at the same ceremony.

These were in the categories of PR Campaign of the Year, Best Community Relations Programme of the Year, Social Media Company of the Year and PR Organisation of the Year - Telecoms.

It was the second consecutive year that the company had won awards at IPR Excellence Awards, two of which were won back-to-back - Best Community Relations Programme of the Year and PR Campaign of the Year.

The Head of Corporate Affairs of Airtel Ghana, Mr Donald Gwira (right), also received an award as the “Public Relations Discovery of the year 2013” on the night. 

He was presented with a memento and an accompanying citation that extolled his communication skills which he applies in improving upon the image and reputation of companies he had worked with over the years.

The citation in addition commended him for bringing vibrancy, visibility and added value to Airtel’s corporate communications and corporate social responsibility activities ever since he joined the company in 2011.

It said his stakeholder engagement had been exemplary in building a positive image for the company which continued to grow in reputation and made it win many awards as a result.

Until his appointment at Airtel Ghana, Mr Gwira handled the corporate communications function at Guinness Ghana Breweries Ltd. Before joining Guinness, he held various positions including Communications Manager for Sightsavers International, West Africa.
