Akyem Swedru court bonds 2 elders
The Akyem Swedru Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Emmanuel B. P. Brew, has bonded two persons involved in a chieftaincy dispute in the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area in the Eastern Region to be of good behaviour to keep the peace.
Abusuapanyin Emmanuel Ofori-Atta and Okyeame Kwabena Gyamfi who belong to the Attafuah Royal Gate are alleged to have attempted to destool the Paramount Queenmother of the area, Nana Akua Asantewaa III, on May 24, 2015.
The two slaughtered a ram to signify the destoolment on that day, an Akwasidae, a day set aside by the chiefs and elders to pour libation and offer sacrifice to the stools.
The court restrained them from proceeding with steps to change the status quo until the determination of the destoolment case pending before the Judicial Committee of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs.
They will, in default, pay GH¢50,000 each.
