He has also promised to service the vehicles for a period of one year at his own cost.

The Ford ambulances, which run on four batteries each, were made for the United States Army and, therefore, suit the terrain in the rural parts of the districts.

Alhaji Andani made the presentation to the Northern Regional Health Directorate in Tamale last Monday.

Dedication

He dedicated the ambulance meant for the Yendi Hospital to the memory of his late mother, Hajia Zelihatu Alhassan.

“And for mentoring me to become what I am today, I dedicate the Savelugu ambulance to the fond memory of my elder brother, the late Sagnarigu Naa, Dr Alhassan Andani,” he added.

He further explained that “as a son of this area, its development is very close to my heart, and growing up in the north, I lived the challenges and, therefore, I always pray to Allah to give me the opportunity to serve my people”.

Alhaji Andani commended health professionals in the region, particularly those in rural communities, for their commitment, sacrifices and dedication to work, in spite of the daily difficulties they encounter in the discharge of their duties.

Appreciation

The Northern Regional Director of Health, Dr Jacob Mahama, expressed appreciation to Alhaji Andani for the gesture and pledged to put the ambulances to judicious use.

According to him, most of the ambulances across the region had broken down, making the transfer of referral cases from the districts to Tamale difficult.

He appealed to other individuals and benevolent establishments to go to the aid of the directorate to facilitate effective health delivery services in the region.
