
Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III's 4-day funeral to start from Sept 14
The final four-day funeral rites [Doteyie] of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, will be held from September 14 to Thursday September 18, 2025.
Announcing the date for the four-day funeral at the one-week observance at the Manhyia palace today, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, said from September 1, 2025 there would be a ban on all funerals until after the Asantehemaa’s funeral.
He said on Sunday, September 14, the Asantehemaa would be laid in state.
The following day Asanteman would be given the opportunity file past Nana Yiadom III.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Otumfuo would sit in state to receive dignitaries and delegations.
At exactly 1pm on Thursday, September 18, 2025, there would be a burial service for the Asantehemaa at the Manhyia palace following which the Asantehemaa would be laid to rest.
On that fateful day, all shops would remain closed.
A sea of mourners thronged the Bogyawe at the Manhyia Palace for the one-week observance of the passing of the Asantehemaa.
In attendance were the Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketsia and many ministers of state.
Other dignitaries included former Presidents, John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and his wife Samira Bawumia.
The diplomatic corps was also represented by the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Christian Rogg, Italian Vice Honoury Consul in Kumasi, Stefano Ramella Pezza.
