The Kuntunkunidae is a special Akwasidae (festival) which is celebrated every 40 days on the traditional calender of the Asantis, and the official attire is mostly black cloth.

At a well-attended durbar, the occasion was used to remember past Asante kings and chiefs who fought for Asanteman.

Clad in black, paramount chiefs and the other royal dignitaries or greats (abrempong) of Asanteman rode in palanquins to pay homage to the Asante King.

They presented drinks and other gifts to the Asantehene.

In attendance were former President, Mr John Agyekum Kufour; the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Sarpong, and his deputy, Mr Samuel Yaw Adusei; the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kofi Boakye; the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Angel Group of Companies, Dr Kwaku Oteng, a number of district chief executives (DCEs) in the Ashanti Region and other government functionaries.
