Assembly members jubilate over Kojo Bonsu’s resignation
Some assembly members of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), who spearheaded the removal of the Chief Executive, Mr Kojo Bonsu, from office have expressed gratification at his resignation and called on President John Dramani Mahama to appoint his immediate replacement to continue with the development of Kumasi.

They commended the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the members of the Asanteman Traditional Council for compelling Mr Bonsu to resign last Tuesday.
In an ecstatic mood and clad in white apparels and waving white handkerchiefs, amid the singing of victory songs, they expressed joy at the exit of the beleaguered Chief Executive.
Press conference
The Spokesperson for the assembly members, Mr Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, who is the assembly member for the Abusuakruwa Electoral Area, said the people of Kumasi had had enough of Mr Bonsu, saying his resignation did not come as a surprise to them.
He said the KMA, under Mr Bonsu’s leadership, had seen little development, which he said, was as a result of Mr Bonsu’s alleged corrupt practices and ostentatious lifestyle.
Book launch
Mr Boakye noted that the ‘Transforming Lives and Transforming Kumasi’ book that Mr Bonsu launched before his resignation last Tuesday was done with an ‘ill intent’ and urged the public to disregard it.
He said apart from the ‘inflated’ $4.4m Rattray Park project and the construction of the State Experimental School at Danyame, “virtually all the other projects catalogued in his book were either initiated by past Chief Executives or were halfway into completion before he assumed office”.
