Ban on noise making in Ga Traditional Council starts May 11

The ban on drumming and noise making in the Ga Traditional Area is scheduled to begin from Monday, May 11, 2015 to Thursday, June 11, 2015.

The acting President of the Ga Traditional Council, Nii Dodoo Nsaki II, who announced this has therefore  urged the security agencies in the country to help control drumming and noise making, ahead of celebrations of the Ga Mashie Homowo festival.

He also urged the public to be patient with the Ga Dangme people on that aspect of their culture and refrain from drumming and making noise. 

Nii Nsaki II, who is also the Otublohum Mantse, was speaking at a press conference held in Accra yesterday.

Nii Dodoo Nsaki said the council would not hesitate to prosecute any member of the public who flouted the regulation. 

He also said the traditional council, in collaboration with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and the Ghana Police Service, had set up a task force to monitor and enforce the ban in the Ga Traditional Area.

“The general Christian community and traditional authorities must show respect for one another and restrain their followers from making inflammatory statements about the beliefs and practices of the Ga Dangme people,” he said.
