Veep back from Saudi Arabia after Hajj

The Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, returned from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Sunday where he had joined fellow Moslems from across the world to perform this year’s Hajj.

Dr Bawumia left Accra, together with his wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia, for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on August 17, 2018.

They were met on arrival by the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu, other leaders and clergy from the Islamic community and ministers of state, led by the Minister for Zongo Development, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid.

Appreciation

After prayers by the National Chief Imam for his safe arrival, Dr Bawumia thanked God (Allah) for making this year’s Hajj possible and prayed for travelling mercies for other pilgrims to arrive home safely.

He also expressed appreciation to Sheikh Sharabutu for his support before he (Veep) left the country and for welcoming his delegation back to the country.

The Vice-President also thanked the Saudi King, Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for the warm reception accorded his delegation and said: "Saudi Arabia made us feel very welcome."

Prayers

"We prayed to God to give this country peace, unity and prosperity. We also prayed for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo so that God gives him strength to carry on with the Ghana Beyond Aid agenda and to bring prosperity to the country,” he said.

He further stated that the Hajj was a period for renewal and prayer.
