The amount is to cover the bills of seven mothers at the Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) of the KATH after giving birth but who cannot leave the hospital because they are unable to meet their financial obligations.

Presenting the cheque at a ceremony at KATH, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bohye FM who is also the Founder of Bohye Prayer Revival Centre at Kwanwoma, Elder Bismark Amoah, said it had for a long time been his wish to support needy nursing mothers on admission at KATH.

He said besides his personal desire, the management of the radio station also had a heart for giving and as such decided to seize the opportunity to assist the mothers.

Elder Amoah pledged more support for the mothers after they had been discharged from hospital.

A Deputy Director of Nursing Services (DDNS) at the Mother and Baby Unit of KATH, Madam Lydia Osei Ampaafo, received the cheque on behalf of the mothers and the hospital and expressed her gratitude to the radio station for its benevolence.

She said the unit which was built to accommodate 50 mothers and their babies currently had a nursing mother population of 150 mothers with newborns, a situation that had contributed to congestion in the block.

She appealed to the general public to assist the unit to expand its facilities.

Early on, Bohye FM had presented pieces of cloth and other items worth GH¢20,000 to 200 widows.
