Charity to provide sandals for street children

A charity, Radiant Family Foundation (RFF), has launched a project to provide children on the streets with footwear.

Known as ‘A Sandal On his Foot’, the charity initiative is aimed at giving hope to street children by responding to some of their needs.

Mission of RFF

The founder of RFF, Madam Ayishetu Nimoh, said at the launch of the project in Accra that the charity was committed to complementing the efforts of the government and other philanthropists organisations to work towards minimising the menace of streetism in the country.

She expressed the hope that the effort of the foundation would go a long way to impact positively on the lives of street children.

“Streetism is gradually becoming a bane and it is important that we drum home the message as well as support those who already find themselves on the streets,” he stated, adding "we are beginning this year with the provision of footwear to children on the streets across the country.”

Gender Ministry

A Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Madam Gifty Twum Ampofo, lauded the initiative and said the government would continue to work and support organisations which took the initiative to assist the needy, including children on the streets.

The deputy minister also presented an undisclosed amount of money to support the project.
