Church of Pentecost constructs holding facility for Prisons in S/R

A sod has been cut for the construction of a holding facility for the Ghana Prisons Service (GPS) in Damongo, the capital of the Savannah Region.

The project which is an initiative of The Church of Pentecost is expected to be completed in eight months.

The facility which is the fourth to be constructed by the church for the GPS in the country would consist two hostels which will accommodate 300 inmates, a training workshop , recreational centre , a church and administrative block.

The sod was jointly cut by The Church of Pentecost Area Head for Sawla, Apostle William Ohemeng Kwakye and the Savannah Regional Minister, Mr. Salifu Adam Braimah at the construction site for work to commence on the facility.

Speaking at the ceremony last Wednesday, February 5,2020, Apostle Ohemeng said the project forms part of the church's effort to improve the condition of inmates and to extend the love of God to all persons .

He expressed appreciation to the Overlord of the Gonja Traditional Area, Yagbonwura Tutumba Boresa for releasing 200 acres of land for the project

The Savannah Regional Minister, Mr. Braimah commended the church for the various interventions to help humanity , saying the church was next to government and second to none in terms of infrastructural development.

He assured the church of the support of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and called on the people of the region to give their maximum support towards the speedy development of the new region.

A Director of Prisons (DOP) in charge of Technical and Services, Mr. Nelson B. Duut on behalf of the GPS expressed his gratitude to the church for the support and called on other institutions to also support the service to deliver on its mandate.

He also thanked the Yagbonwura for the release of the land for the project.
