CIMG crowns marketing gurus

The 28th Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) National Marketing Performance Awards was held in grand style at the State Banquet Hall last Saturday.

Celebrated on the theme “Cause-related marketing: A panacea for national behavioural change,” the ceremony attracted captains of industry, marketing professionals and corporate bodies.

The prestigious Marketing man and woman for 2016 went to Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of MTN Ghana, and the United Bank of Africa (UBA), Mr Ebenezer Twum Asante and Mrs Abiola Bawuah, respectively.

The two were recognised for achieving excellence in their various fields of endeavours and serving as reference points in their industries.

Other award winners

The Director of Marketing and Alternate Channels at Unibank, Mr Clifford Mettle, and a Client Relations Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Ms Lorlonyo Nuworsu, were crowned the

Marketing Practitioner and the Marketing Student for 2016, respectively.

Other corporate award winners were Ecobank Ghana Limited, Bank of the Year; Japan Motors Trading Company Limited, Motor Firm of the Year; SIC Life, Insurance Company of the Year (Life); Star Assurance,

Insurance Company of the Year (General); MTN Ghana, Telecom Company of the Year.

The rest were Spearhead Network Solutions, Telecom Company of the Year (allied and support services); Goil, Petroleum Company of the Year; Multimedia Group Limited, Media Organisation of the Year, and Electromart, Retail Outlet of the Year.

Wake up call

In an address, the Kwahu Pepeasehene, Nana Bonsu Ayepe II, called on marketers and Ghanaians to adopt a behavioural change to transform the country.

Nana Bonsu, who was also the chairman for the occasion, was emphatic that the 21st Century marketing could only be successful if practitioners were minded of engaging in positive actions that could affect the environment positively.

The President of the CIMG, Mr Kojo Mattah, also stated that the theme was appropriate for the celebration because marketers had a key role to play in the transformational agenda of the country.
