Court gives prosecution April 21 deadline for trial to start in NSS fraud case
The Accra High Court trying the embattled National Service Scheme (NSS) Executive Director, Alhaji Alhassan Imoro has given the prosecution until April 21, 2015 to decide if it has gathered enough evidence to start trial.
Graphiconline’s correspondent in court, Seth J. Bokpe reported that the court’s decision followed a plea by the Attorney General’s Department to ask for more time for the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to complete its investigations.
Alhaji Alhassan Imoro is in court for allegedly stealing over Gh¢86 million from the state through the payment of ghost or non-existent service personnel.
At the last sitting, state prosecutors for a second time prayed the court for an adjournment to allow the prosecution to complete its investigations.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing and was currently on a Gh¢90 million bail with three justified sureties.
