Tetteh Noah, 25, however, paid the fine and immediately apologised to the court for his action.

ASP Richmond Akwasi Yeboah, the prosecutor, who is also the head of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department  at Akosombo, told the court presided over by Mr Asmah Akwasi Asiedu, that the complainant, Nicholas Osanyorngmor, is a student and resident at Okornya, a suburb of Somanya, while Noah, the driver, is from Atua, a suburb of Odumase-Krobo.

The prosecutor said on November 16, 2013 at about 8.30 p.m., the accused was driving from  Odumase-Krobo towards Somanya.

On reaching Mount Mary College of Education junction, the driver realised that there was a heavy traffic and all the vehicles were, thus, moving slowly.

The accused,  without observing  traffic regulations, suddenly veered off his lane into the lane of the witness in the case, Cephas  Terkperno, who was by then driving and heading towards Odumase Krobo from Accra, with several passengers on board his vehicle.

He said Cephas, in an attempt to avoid a head-on collision with the accused vehicle, also veered off his lane and hit a kiosk and injured Osanyongmor, 16, and also damaged an ice chest, a table and a kiosk, all valued  at GH¢150, a property of one Alexander Debrah Agbozo.

Osanyongmor, who was seriously injured, was rushed to the Atua Government Hospital  for treatment.

A report was subsequently made to the Somanya Police and the vehicle was impounded.
