The driver of the tanker, Eklu Agbormegah, is assisting the police in their investigations.

Briefing

The Esiama District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police, Mr Thomas Bayor, told the Daily Graphic that Mr Agbormegah took the tanker truck with registration number, GN 6228 - 14, to a welding shop at Baku to mend a leaking portion of the tanker truck.

He said in the course of welding the fuel tanker, which had some residual fuel in it, the tank got heated up leading to the forcible opening of its rear part, killing Kenyah instantly.

The officer added that the driver, who reported himself to the police, said upon reaching Baku, he realised that part of the main tanker was leaking and, therefore, decided to mend it.

According to the driver, it was in the course of welding the broken part that the rear portion got detached.

Mr Bayor said the fuel tanker had since been impounded by his outfit.
