El-Wak stampede: 2 victims still in intensive care

Following last Wednesday’s stampede at the El-Wak Stadium that claimed six lives during a military recruitment exercise, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has said several patients have since been discharged and others moved out of intensive care.

Naval Captain Adzo Arhin, speaking in a television interview with TV3 on Monday, said the conditions of all hospitalised victims “have improved tremendously.”

“Three of the five who were in ICU are much better and have been moved to another department,” she said. “Two remain in ICU but they are stable. A number of the victims have been discharged, and generally, we are doing very well.”

As of Monday morning, 16 survivors remained on admission across various wards, while others had been cleared to return home.
