Immigration officer dies from motorcycle crash at Assin Fosu

An immigration officer, who was on a motorcycle ride with a police officer friend at Assin Fosu in the Central Region has died following a crash.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Identified only as Amoakoh and commonly referred to as Ahuoden, he was the pillion rider at the time of the crash on Monday, around midday.

The police officer friend from the Central North Regional Command, who sustained injuries is still receiving treatmet at the hospital.

The two were reportedly heading towards the Assin Fosu main lorry station when the motorbike, for reasons yet to be established, veered  off the road and crashed.

Identified only as Amoakoh and commonly referred to as Ahuoden, he was the pillion rider at the time of the crash on Monday, around midday.

Eyewitnesses rushed them to the health facility, but Amoakoh was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police officer, who reportedly suffered fractures to his left arm and leg, was admitted for further treatment.


Personnel from the Central North Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) are investigating the crash.

The damaged motorcycle has been taken for examination as part of the investigations.

The remains of Amoakoh have since been deposited at the morgue.
