Former Miss Universe Nigeria Chidinma Adetshina was reportedly attacked by an angry crowd as she left the Cape Town Regional Court, where she appeared in connection with her ongoing legal battle over her South African citizenship and possible deportation.
The South African-Nigerian beauty queen has since spoken about the emotional toll of the prolonged legal dispute, saying she believes she has been unfairly targeted.
Adetshina's citizenship controversy dates back to 2024 when questions were raised about her eligibility to compete in the Miss South Africa pageant because of her family background.
Born in Soweto to a Nigerian father and a mother of Mozambican descent, her participation in the competition sparked widespread debate and scrutiny, eventually developing into a legal battle over her right to remain in South Africa.
