Movie lights nearly damaged my eyes — Agya Koo

Veteran Kumawood actor Kofi Adu, popularly known as Agya Koo, has revealed how years of working under intense movie lights nearly damaged his eyes and left him struggling with blurred vision.

According to the actor, the condition became so worrying that he had to seek medical attention after noticing that his eyesight was deteriorating.

Speaking in an interview on Lawson TV on August 23, Agya Koo said the lighting used during movie productions took a toll on his vision after years of acting.

“I acted in movies till it got to a point where I see things blurry. My vision was deteriorating because of the lighting we used to film,” he disclosed.

He said he eventually visited the hospital to find out whether he had developed an eye condition.

“I went to the hospital and I was asked to read some things. After reading, the doctor told me that nothing was wrong with my eyes. I was advised to be careful of the lighting we use to work,” he recounted. (Read also: Music is not cheap —Lord Paper)

Agya Koo also used the interview to clarify reports about how much he earned during his years in the movie industry, saying he received about GH¢4,000 while living and working in Accra but did not charge Miracle Films a fixed fee for his roles.

“When I was staying in Accra, I was being paid GH¢4,000. I didn’t get that money from Miracle Films and I wasn’t even charging them,” he explained.

“All the movies I acted in, I didn’t charge Miracle Films, so when we were done, he would just give me the amount he had,” he added.
