The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested seven people in separate operations targeting suspected narcotics-related activities at Ejisu, Abrepo Junction and Atimatim.
The arrests were made on Thursday, August 20, 2026, following intelligence gathered on suspected narcotics activities in the three areas.
The police also seized 860 Tramadol tablets and capsules suspected to be unregistered drugs, together with other suspected narcotic substances and medicines.
In a statement issued on August 21, 2026, the Ashanti Regional Police Command said the operations formed part of efforts to deal with suspected narcotics-related activities in the region.
At Ejisu, the police arrested 43-year-old Nana Kwadwo Adu and 48-year-old Nana Kwame Fella.
Four others, 23-year-old Stephanie Anokye, 20-year-old Roland Anokye, 30-year-old Gideon Owusu and 27-year-old Grace Fosua, were arrested at Abrepo Junction.
At Atimatim, the police arrested 27-year-old Kofi Opoku, whom the police said was suspected of peddling narcotic substances and had previously evaded arrest.
During the operations, officers recovered quantities of pill pouches containing dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances.
The police also recovered quantities of Tramaking 225mg and 250mg, Royal 255mg and Rophynol 100mg, as well as 860 Tramadol tablets and capsules suspected to be unregistered drugs.
An unspecified amount of Ghanaian currency was also recovered, the police said.
The seven suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.
The police said the investigation would seek to establish the source of the suspected narcotic substances, determine the extent of the suspects' alleged involvement and identify other people who might be connected to the activities.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command urged the public to provide credible information to support efforts to deal with suspected narcotics-related activities and maintain public safety.
The police said further updates would be provided as the investigations progress.
