The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has said it has taken note of public allegations of extortion and related conduct made by the Chief Executive of Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, against the Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
According to the OSP, "given the nature of the allegations, the OSP will assess the case and determine whether it falls within its statutory mandate and whether further investigative action is warranted."
In a public notice issued on August 24, 2026, the OSP also said it has acknowledged a joint petition submitted by two individuals, as well as two separate petitions from other persons, concerning the allegations.
What this simply means is that the OSP is going through preliminary investigations in accordance with Regulation 5 of L.I 2374.
