Presidential Staffer, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has urged pastors to adopt a clearer perspective on their spiritual calling and economic responsibilities.
Speaking as a special guest at the launch of an entrepreneurship and leadership training programme for pastors in Accra on Saturday, [July 26, 2025], Mr Afriyie Ankrah cited Genesis 1:22, Deuteronomy 5:18 and Ecclesiastes 4:9–12 from the scriptures and said many churches face challenges because pastors prioritize wealth and breakthroughs over true spiritual purpose.
"The reason why there are so many problems in the church today is because people have lost their perspective. Somebody starts a church and then immediately he is looking for money and breakthrough. The bible says seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all things shall be added to you," he said.
He reminded them that the Bible teaches prosperity through seeking God’s kingdom first and assured that God desires fruitfulness and multiplication.
Mr Ankrah further urged pastors to work hard and balance ministry with practical efforts like agriculture, suggesting an early morning routine that combines prayer with farming activities.
Pastors Entrepreneurial Programme
The Pastors Entrepreneurial and Leadership Training Programme is a nationwide initiative, put together by the Clergy Assemblies Association Network, a religious organisation aiming to train 1000 pastors.
Starting from August 2025, participating pastors will receive training in areas such as snail farming, general agriculture, food processing (value addition), sewing, baking, and more in their respective regions.
According to the organisers, the goal is to challenge the perception that pastors should not engage in work while serving God and to empower them to improve their economic well-being.
The official launch ceremony held in Accra last Saturday, highlighted the preparedness of the organisers and regional coordinators to ensure a smooth rollout of the project next month, beginning in the Greater Accra Region.
Commendation
Archbishop Fynn Thompson, speaking on behalf of the Clergy Assemblies Association Network, praised President John Dramani Mahama for his strong and focused start during the first six months of his return to office.
He emphasized that leadership is a divine responsibility and prayed for divine protection and guidance for the President.
He urged the full implementation of the 24-Hour Economy policy, describing it as a divinely inspired vision that could transform Ghana by creating jobs, boosting productivity, and leaving a lasting legacy.
"We believe that His Excellency is a promise-keeper, so we take this opportunity to humbly urge him to fully implement the 24-Hour Economy policy, a vision we believe is not just economic, but divinely inspired,"
He concluded with a call for national unity and collective belief in Ghana’s transformation.
"Ghana is rising. The heavens have aligned, and the season of transformation is upon us Let us all support the vision. Let us build together. Let us believe in the possibilities ahead," he added.
