She said those values were the secrets to success and urged women to develop those qualities and added that they were key to making them successful leaders.

Speaking on the topic: “Preparation, Patience and Perseverance” at a conference held in Accra last Sunday to mark the International Women’s Day, she stated that those qualities ensured that one stayed focused and thereby encouraged them to strive for success.

PURPLE Conference

The conference, which was dubbed PURPLE Conference, an acronym for Purposed United and Relevant Partnership for Leadership and Enterprise, was on the theme “Going beyond the walls”. It was aimed at offering guidance to young women to empower them to become agents of change.

An author of religious books, Miss Jane Steward, who spoke on the theme: “God’s will is that you will be a quintessential woman,” said the first key to availing one’s self to be used by God was self-acceptance.

“Do not place too much emphasis on comparing yourself to others but rather work on your weaknesses and flaws and accept yourself for who you are,” Miss Steward added.

She also called on men to help women pursue their dreams and advised women to pray into their future marriages for God to give them supportive husbands who would help them realise their dreams and ambitions.

She bemoaned the fact that the country lacked honest people who would stand and speak against all wrongs, and therefore, encouraged women to be confident and courageous enough to say no to wrong doings which would dent their images.

Miss Steward advised women to establish a strong network with other women to help them gain opportunities to better themselves.
