FOSCO Mathematics student wins writers award
A final year Mathematics and Science student of the Foso College of Education (FOSCO) in the Central Region (FOSCO), Paa Kwesi Arko Cee has been crowned as the winner in the Short story Category of the 2017 Ghana Writers Awards.
Paa Kwesi’s story, titled: “University of Hard Knocks” was adjudged the best by the Short Story jury.
He was shortlisted among six other writers.
Paa Kwesi’s award was presented to him by the newly elected General Secretary of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Mr Edmund Kofi Yeboah.
Ghana Writers Awards is a literary prize instituted by some young Ghanaian literary arts compatriots to celebrate and promote Ghanaian writers and literature, particularly unpublished young writers.
This is the second time the organizers of the event have hosted the awards.
The event was held on the theme: "My art my life; creating more opportunities for the youth in the literary art industry in Ghana."
The maiden edition of the awards was held on October 29, 2016 at the Marvels Ghana Mini Golf Course in Accra.
The well-attended event was held at the Christ King Parish Hall in Accra, opposite the Flagstaff House.
In his brief remarks after picking the award, Paa Kwesi Cee commended the organizers of the award for the initiative, saying the award would motivate and encourage him to continue his writing career.
The 2017 Ghana Writers Awards was organised in partnership with Resolute Consult, Mensa Press, Turf, Poets In Nigeria (PIN), Self-Publishing Africa, Munyori Literary Journal, Presspeep.com.
