Four injured in multi-vehicle crash at Ayi Mensah involving over 70 people
Four people have been injured following a multi-vehicle road traffic accident involving 11 vehicles, including a 44-seater commercial bus carrying 59 passengers, at Ayi Mensah, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has said.
The crash occurred on April 6, prompting a swift emergency response. A rescue team from the Madina Fire Station arrived at the scene at 6:45 pm and worked alongside the Police and Ambulance Services to manage the situation.
In total, more than 70 people were involved in the collision, which included several private vehicles in addition to the Yutong commercial bus.
Despite the scale of the accident, the GNFS reported that no fatalities were recorded. Four persons sustained injuries and were transported to the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, where they received treatment and were discharged the same day.
Fire service personnel carried out rescue operations, controlled fluid spills and cleared the roadway. They also assisted with traffic management to prevent secondary incidents along the busy stretch.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
In the wake of the crash, the GNFS has advised motorists to exercise caution on high-risk routes, maintain safe speeds and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy.
