Free SHS: 2 headmasters demoted for charging fees
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has started cracking the whip with the demotion of at least two headmasters who are said to have flouted the guidelines on the implementation of the government's free senior high school programme.
They are said to have demanded school fees from some first year students under the programme.

Some others, numbering seven have also been interdicted pending investigations into allegations that they have also flouted the guidelines.
This was made known Thursday evening by the Acting Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa.
He explained the two demoted are the headmaster of Pentecost SHS at Koforidua, Mr Blasu Wisdom, who is to be posted to a different school to teach in a classroom.
Similarly, the Assistant headmaster of Daffour Senior High, Rev S.P. Elewokor is also to be posted to a different school to teach in the classroom.
The headmaster of Daffour SHS, Mr S.C.K. Agbakey is to be reprimanded for poor supervision.
The acting Director General also said the headmaster of Presbyterian SHS at La in Accra, Mr Samuel Salamat is to be interdicted pending investigations into the allegations against him for alleged infractions of the guidelines.

He is said to have refused to attend the invitation to meet with the Director General.

Prof Opoku-Amankwa said other allegations are being investigated for the necessary action to be taken.
