GAPVOD resolves to support govt in country’s development

The Ghana Association of Private Voluntary Organisations in Development (GAPVOD) has affirmed its resolve to support the government to foster the country’s socio-economic development.

It has, therefore, pledged its commitment to provide credible alternatives to facilitate growth in the country.

“GAPVOD would want to assure government, development partners and the people that it would coordinate its members’ efforts to complement development programmes to foster national growth,” the association indicated in a statement signed by its administrator, Mr Frank Boakye-Dankwa.

Election

The statement was issued at the end of the election of the association’s National Executive Committee (NEC) in Accra.

The four-member NEC has Mr Philip Boateng Mensah of the Philip Foundation Programme as Chairman, with Dr Steve Manteaw of the Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC) as his vice. Mrs Mary Awelana Adah of the Ghana Integrity Initiative is the Treasurer, while Mr John Kwadwo Owusu, the immediate past Interim Management Committee Chairman is an ex officio member.

GAPVOD

The association was founded on the premise of having a common platform where members could deliberate on issues and come out with a common voice to engage with the government and its development partners on the way forward for the country. It is dedicated to the networking and building of alliances among non-governmental organisations (NGOs) operating in Ghana.

Registered in Ghana in 1981, GAPVOD’s membership has grown over the years to nearly 400.=
