Ghana Armed Forces launch inter-service sports competition

The Ghana Armed Forces has launched a week long sports festival amongst its three arms at the El-Wak stadium, Accra.

Guest of honour, Chief of the Defence Staff V/ADM M Quarshie said sports is crucial in learning about coping with pressure which translates into achieving great heights.

According General Quarshie, the armed forces recognizes the value of using sports as a vehicle not only for development but also an excellent way of bringing the different units and their families together in a relaxed and competitive environment.

He said the theme for this years event "fostering unity, cooperation and esprit d corps through sports", should remind personnel’s of the benefit of unity and team work in achieving a common goal, adding that the event will improve the standard of physical fitness and operational readiness .
