Ghana marks World Hausa Day
The World Hausa Day was celebrated in grand style at the Forecourt of the State House, Accra, with a colourful display of the rich cultural heritage of the Hausa community in Ghana.
The event, held under the theme "Promoting peaceful coexistence pre, during and post-elections 2024: the role of Zongo Chiefs, Magajiyoyi and Youth Leaders" brought together members of the Hausa community, traditional leaders, and government officials.

In a keynote address, Dr. Ben Abdallah Banda, representing Vice President Dr. Bawumia, emphasised the importance of unity and collective efforts in maintaining peace, particularly as the country approaches elections.
He praised the Hausa community for their contributions to Ghana's development and encouraged them to continue promoting peaceful coexistence.
Dr. Banda also emphasised the need for Ghanaians to promote and consume local brands and goods, in order to boost local industries and the economy.
The National Chief Imam, Sheikh (Dr) Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, led prayers and blessed the activities of the Hausa community, urging them to continue promoting peace and unity.
The event also featured traditional music, dance and attire, showcasing the vibrant cultural heritage of the Hausa people.
The World Hausa Day celebration was attended by Zongo Chiefs, Magajiyoyi, youth leaders, and members of the Hausa community, all united in their quest for peaceful coexistence and economic growth.
