500 Pupils to participate in FirstBank’s 2025 Junior Internship Programme
FirstBank Ghana has launched the third edition of its Junior Internship Programme (JIP) for 500 children aged 10 and 14 years who will be given early corporate mentorship and professional exposure.
The two-month internship, which is scheduled to run from July 14 to September 12, 2025, aims to build foundational skills in communication, confidence and curiosity through structured and practical experiences.
The programme, which begun in 2023, formed part of the bank’s broader social impact agenda to nurture children by introducing them to banking, leadership, customer service and innovation in an age-appropriate and engaging manner. Last year’s edition hosted 300 interns.
Commitment
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Victor Yaw Asante, said the JIP was a demonstration of the bank’s commitment to shaping the future through consistent investment in the next generation.
He said education was central to the bank’s social impact philosophy, as it was a continuous journey of growth and discovery.
“We are committed to shaping a generation that is not only academically sound but also emotionally intelligent, digitally aware and socially responsible,” Mr Asante said.
He further explained that the programme was designed to complement formal education by sparking curiosity, developing emotional intelligence, and building real-world skills, adding our vision is to be more than a bank, to become a platform that unlocks dreams of one child, one experience and one opportunity at a time”.
Mr Asante, therefore, encouraged participants to embrace the opportunity as future leaders and innovators of the country, as the programme was intended to nurture them.
Programme details
The Head of Retail Banking at FirstBank, Allen Quaye, said the programme required parental consent and a FirstBank child account with a minimum balance of GH¢300 to qualify.
To enrol a child, a parent or guardian must provide a Ghana Card as well as the child’s birth certificate, passport or weighing card.
He said the programme had evolved from a promotional activity into an annual feature on the bank’s calendar, citing positive feedback from parents and participants through letters, testimonials and social media engagements.
Mr Quaye said this year’s interns would be posted to various FirstBank branches across the regions and would receive certificates upon completion.
Additionally, the programme will feature partner engagements, factory tours, product experiences and an essay competition, with the top awardee receiving a GH¢4,000 cash prize.
Partnerships
FirstBank Ghana extended appreciation to its 2025 partners, including Junior Graphic, KIVO, Gino Jollof, Pepsodent Toothpaste, Awake Purified Water, Kiki Juice Drink, Top-Up Pharmacy and the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS).
The bank said the brands had become part of a transformative journey, with their contributions integrated into each participant’s growth story.
Launched in 2023, the JIP was developed to meet the growing need for early corporate exposure for young minds.
