Akonoma Basic School receives facelift
The Akonoma Basic School in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District in the Central Region has been refurbished by the City Life Church based in Houston in the United States of America.
The move was initiated by the Paramount Chief of the Asebu Traditional Area, Prof. Okatakyi Amenfi XII, to help improve quality education in the community.
The gesture is part of projects to mark his 25 years’ enstoolment as paramount chief of the area.
Okatakyi Amenfi said infrastructure impacted the quality of education, and that the refurbishment had created a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
"The state in which the school was and the transformation now is a big one and I am grateful for the support," he stated.
Okatakyi Amenfi said he was hopeful that the school's performance would greatly improve after the refurbishment.
Maintain facility
He charged the school and community to ensure that the facility was adequately maintained.

The leader of the City Life Church team, Michael Myles Pratt, who was enstooled development chief with the stool name Nana Odakrabo I, said opportunity and education were very critical for succeeding and changing the fortunes of the youth.
He said the church and sponsors would support the community with educational infrastructure and continue to help with books and supplies to ensure quality teaching and learning in the schools in the community.
The head teacher of the school, David Amanor Tetteh, said there was still the need for infrastructure to accommodate teachers, the Junior High School also needed renovation, and there was a need for more furniture, and appealed for support.
Mr Tetteh pledged that the school's management committee would work to ensure that the facility was adequately maintained.
