A 51-year-old vendor who allegedly sold a Massey Ferguson tractor worth GH¢160,000 without rendering an account to the owner has been dragged to the Dansoman Circuit Court.
The accused, Iddrisu Abdallah, is said to have undersold the tractor for GH¢130,000 and invested the proceeds into his personal business.
He was charged with one count of fraudulent breach of trust when he made his first appearance at the court presided over by Basilia Adjei-Tawiah.
He has been admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢50,000, with two sureties, one to be justified.
The court further directed the accused to report to police investigators once every week.
The court has ordered the prosecution to file all documents it intends to rely on for the criminal trial.
Narrating the facts of the case, the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector (C/Insp.) Portia Nuarko, said the complainant, Rabiu Jimoh Mohammed, who is also a trader based in Norway, had imported eight second-hand Massey Ferguson tractors in October 2024 and handed them to the accused, who operates a garage along the Korle-Bu Ayigbe Town Mortuary Road, to sell on his behalf.
In January 2025, the complainant received information from witnesses that one of the tractors had been sold. He expected to receive GH¢160,000, being the agreed price of the tractor, but the accused failed to remit the money.
C/Insp Nuarko further told the court that the complainant reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of the accused.
Upon interrogation, the accused admitted selling the tractor for GH¢130,000 and said he had invested the proceeds into his business.
He pleaded for two weeks to refund the money but failed to do so.
The accused person, after investigations, was charged and arraigned for prosecution.
