Anlo Extravaganza and Heritage Festival set for Easter 2026
A cultural and ecotourism initiative, the Anlo Extravaganza and Heritage Festival, will take place from April 3 to April 6, next year, in the Anlo State to promote ecotourism, strengthen cultural identity and stimulate economic activity within the Keta, Anloga and adjoining districts.
The festival, which aims to boost rural development, will empower the youth and preserve the cultural heritage of the Anlo people, bring together cultural groups, civil society, traditional authorities, among others.
Organised by KP Swift Services Ltd, the initiative also forms part of a broader plan to ignite rural inclusive growth and contribute towards socio-economic development within the Anlo State through tourism and culture.
Activities
The five-day festival will include a mix of seminars, sporting events, cultural displays, business engagements and community-centred programmes. Key highlights include: the Torgbi Sri I Memorial Lecture & Ecotourism Forum, the Godwin Atsu Adukpo Marathon, the Mr and Mrs Anlo Tourism Ambassadors Pageant, a football gala, a courtesy call on the Awomefia and his sub-chiefs in the Anlo State and a thanksgiving service.
The festival will climax with a community picnic, beach sports and an aerobics boot camp at the Aborigins Beach Resort at Keta.
The organisers will also launch a Back-to-School Campaign to support 200 underprivileged pupils with uniforms, sanitary pads and learning materials within the Anlo State.
Local garment producers, including tailors and seamstresses, will also be engaged to support the initiative.
Purpose
Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the Event Coordinator and a Director of KP Swift Services Ltd, Kenneth Dzadu, explained that the idea for the festival evolved from the group’s earlier involvement in organising pageants and community programmes, including the first-ever Mama Hogbe Beauty Pageant in 2011.
He said KP Swift Services Ltd recognised the need to expand beyond pageantry to create an annual platform that would highlight the ecotourism potential of the Anlo State, particularly the Keta and Anloga districts.
Mr Dzadu said the Easter season usually attracted thousands of visitors to the Volta Region, making it an ideal period to position the Anlo State as a preferred tourism destination.
“It is anticipated that the festival will stimulate economic activity for traders, enhance the creative potential of the youth and encourage both locals and visitors to see Anlo as the place to be during Easter,” he said.
He added that the event would also provide a platform for talent identification in sports, the arts and cultural performance, while strengthening social cohesion across communities.
Expectation, collaboration
The organisers of the event projected that the festival could generate about GH¢500,000 in tourism-related revenue for the host districts.
It added that over 50 temporary and long-term jobs were expected to emerge in hospitality, transport, security, catering and events services.
It said the event would also create platforms for young athletes, performers and creative workers to showcase their skills.
The organisers are partnering the Anlo Traditional Council, the Anloga and Keta District assemblies and national media partners, including the Graphic Communications Group Ltd, GBC, Jubilee Radio, for publicity and event coverage.
