He takes over from Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, whose tenure ended in August, this year.

The induction ceremony took place at the Perez Chapel International, Dzorwulu, Accra, last Sunday.

The announcement of the appointment of Archbishop Agyinasare was made during the Supernatural Empowerment Summit, which was attended by hundreds of Christian leaders and faithful from 47 countries in Accra on May 3, 2024.

His appointment marks a significant milestone in the history of BSG, as it is the first time the Governing Council has appointed a Charismatic Church leader to the position of President.

Also introduced to the congregation were the new Council and Committee members of the society, who would work alongside Archbishop Agyinasare to advance the society's goals.

The council members are Rev. Prof. Benjamin Abotchie Ntreh; Rev. Dr Bridget Ben-Naimah; Dr Maame Ekua Ayerakwa and Dr Abigail Opuni-Frimpong.

Pastor Ernest Boateng, Rev. George Anyetei Tsakle, Justice Avril Lovelace-Johnson, Mr Mensah Seneadza and Mr Yaw Owusu Boadu are the committee members.

Each member was presented with a Bible, symbolising their role as custodians of the Word and their commitment to the society’s values.

The event was attended by church leaders, society members, dignitaries and well-wishers to mark the society’s mission to spread the Word of God across the country.

About BSG

The BSG is a non-denominational Christian organisation registered under the Trustees (Incorporation) Act, 1962 (Act 106).

It is an affiliate of the United Bible Societies (UBS), a global fellowship of national Bible societies, with a mission to make God’s word available and affordable, including its use to transform lives. The BSG has so far translated the Bible into eight Ghanaian languages.

Gratitude

Archbishop Agyinasare, expressed his gratitude to the society for the trust placed on him, and pledged to lead with integrity, faith and dedication to the society’s mission.

He called for a stronger collaboration of churches, institutions and other groups to help translate the Bible into many languages as possible, adding that there was the need to build a self-sustaining Bible society with the necessary financial and human resources to enable it to work independently and effectively.

“We will explore innovative ways to generate income, secure partnerships and engage the broader community to support our mission,” he said.

Archbishop Agyinasare urged Christian leaders to fully embrace the programmes of the BSG, especially its annual Bible Week, which he said should be celebrated by every church.

Commendation

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt Rev. Dr Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, commended the BSG for appointing Archbishop Agyinasare, describing it as “a step towards the integration of charismatic leaders into the broader history of Christianity in the country”.

Reading from the Book of Isaiah, Chapter 40, Verses 3-5, he shared a message of hope and transformation, and declared the month of September as “a month of humility, a month of offering for the sake of God as the glory of the Lord will be revealed in our lives.”
